The Customer
Liebherr-Werk Biberach is a key production facility within the Liebherr Group, specializing in the manufacturing of complex structural steel components for large-scale crane systems. The operation demands uncompromising quality standards, high part variability, and safe, reliable production processes.
“With Teqram’s autonomous deburring line, we significantly improved quality and efficiency in crane manufacturing while reducing the physical workload for our employees.”
— Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH
The Challenge
Final finishing of steel plates was previously performed largely by hand. Edge rounding with angle grinders was physically demanding, difficult to plan, and carried inherent safety risks.
At the same time, it became increasingly challenging to recruit and retain qualified personnel for repetitive manual work. Meanwhile, expectations for consistent, repeatable quality and stable throughput times continued to rise.
The Solution
- Implementation of a fully automated deburring, grinding, and blasting line in an integrated Teqram – ARKU – Rösler system environment
- Two Teqram EasyDebur robots for fully autonomous loading and unloading without manual intervention
- Expanded processing capacity through EasyGrinder functionality for particularly thick components
- Deslagging, deburring, edge rounding, and blasting combined in one continuous workflow
- Automated part recognition using EasyEye 3D vision technology — completely programming-free
- Fully automated stacking for stable, repeatable, and predictable production flow
- Integration of a Rösler wire mesh belt blasting system and ARKU EdgeBreaker 5000 MAX and 4000 for consistent OEM-level surface quality
The Results
- Up to 50% reduction in processing time through continuous line operation without multiple passes
- Economically viable automation for single parts and small batch production
- Consistently high, repeatable surface quality at OEM standards
- Significant reduction of physically demanding and repetitive manual work
- Improved workplace safety with reduced noise and dust exposure
- Increased overall productivity in crane manufacturing

Why Teqram
Liebherr selected Teqram for its fully autonomous robotics platform that operates without manual programming, its flexibility in handling varying part geometries, and its seamless integration into a complex production line.
Teqram’s proven 3D vision technology, industrial experience, and ability to combine multiple finishing processes into one reliable system were key to the project’s success.
Conclusion
With the autonomous finishing line installed in Biberach, Liebherr has strengthened quality, process reliability, and workplace safety in crane manufacturing.
By integrating deburring, grinding, and blasting into one continuous system, the solution delivers repeatable results, reduces manual intervention, and future-proofs the finishing process.
